CPE RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITIES
Mercy St Vincent Medical Center (MSVMC), Toledo, Ohio is a 500+ bed major tertiary teaching and regional
referral center for critical care, has an exciting opportunity for three full-time CPE residents to work with its dedicated Pastoral Care Staff.
Mercy St. Vincent, a member of Mercy Health Partners, sponsored by the Grey Nuns and Sisters of Mercy, has long been
a leader in Northwest Ohio at providing quality medical care/education and promoting community development with a bias towards
the underserved. The 3-unit residency runs 8/27/10-8/26/11. The annual stipend is $29,000

Hospice of the Bluegrass in Lexington, KY, is now accepting applications for three ACPE accredited residency
positions for the 2010-2011 year which begins on July 1, 2010. This is a twelve-month position, offering 3 units of Level
I and Level II CPE credit. Residents will receive a stipend of $25,000 plus medical and dental benefits
at employee cost. Other benefits include five days of paid vacation, six paid holidays, and up to five
paid sick days and professional development days. Hospice of the Bluegrass provides quality end-of-life
care to patients and family members in home care settings, nursing homes, and inpatient units. Coverage
area includes 32 northern, central, and southeastern Kentucky counties operating from seven sites. CPE
residents are important members of the interdisciplinary care team. Residents gain experience in using spiritual assessments,
family systems theory, team leadership skills and conflict resolution skills to enhance relationships with patients and staff
as they provide end of life spiritual care. Applicants for the program must have completed seminary and one unit of ACPE CPE.

UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, KY has three CPE residency positions are available beginning
on September 1, 2009. All candidates need to have completed at least one unit of ACPE training. Additional
requirements are: Master of Divinity degree or equivalent from an accredited program, professional standing within a recognized
denomination, an ability to work creatively and openly within an interfaith setting, a thoroughly filled out and reflective
Standard ACPE application form, and a successful interview. We pay a stipend of $22,000 (plus), provide free parking, generous
vacation, holiday, and sick leave and all benefits afforded to Hospital Staff (except retirement). We are a quaternary setting
with an expanding emergency department, a cancer center, a children’s hospital, and are on the cutting edge of several
medical specialties. The non-refundable application fee is $50 and is deducted from the already reduced tuition.
Intern positions are also availabnle for the Fall Extended Unit beginning in mid-September (2009) without stipend. Extended
unit applicants must be working at a Master's degree level, have standing in a recognized denomination and an ability to work
in an interfaith setting. There is a non-refundable application fee of $50 (made out to Pastoral Care - UK Hospital)
which is deducted from tuition upon aceptance into the program, The fee must must be included with the Standard ACPE

St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital - 6 CPE Residency positions to be filled at our Pastoral Care and Education Department. This year-long
residency program (3 ACPE Units) begins on Aug. 24, 2009 through Aug.
13, 2010. Benefits include: stipend of $23,500 for First-Year Residents and $24,500 for Second-Year Residents; free parking,
medical insurance options after the first month, 21 PTO days (it includes holidays, vocation, and sick days). Application

Clarian
Health Partners in Indianapolis, IN is seeking to fill first
and second-year CPE Residency positions beginning August 31, 2010 and ending on August 30, 2011.
The specialty foci of a second year are (1) critical care ministry with children in
Riley Hospital for Children and (2) Medical Ethics and Pastoral Care. First year stipend: $23,660.
Second year stipend: $24,660. Tuition is minimal: $100 for each unit ($300 total for the year).
A full benefit package is offered. Responsibilities include: provide quality pastoral
care to patients, families and staff in assigned areas; weekly on-call throughout the year; full participation in CPE seminars,
lead chapel services and, for 2nd year Residents, submit a written end-of-year research project/presentation.

Director
of Pastoral Care and Clinical Pastoral Education, Cincinnati, OH - Hebrew
Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion seeks to fill the position of Director of Pastoral Care and Clinical Pastoral Education
in the Rabbinical School at its Cincinnati campus, appointment on July 1, 2010 or later (depending on availability).
Candidates must be an ACPE-certified Supervisor, or progressing towards certification as an ACPE-certified Supervisor, and
be an ordained rabbi with experience working with liberal Jewish communities and congregations. Instructional
responsibilities (under the supervision of the Director of the Rabbinical School) include: Clinical Pastoral
Education (CPE) courses at the HUC campus and overseeing students’ progress in CPE courses taught at other sites; Required
courses in Human Relations and Pastoral Care; Participation in Professional Development courses, workshops, seminars; Supervision
