CPE RESIDENCY OPPORTUNITIES

Clarian Health, Indianapolis, IN is receiving applications for the 2011-2012 Residency Program. Clarian is a large multi-campus metropolitan teaching hospital in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. We are home to adult and pediatric Level I trauma centers, nationally recognized cancer and solid organ transplantation centers, and the State’s largest children’s specialty referral hospital. Our CPE Program also offers 2nd Year Resident specialties in Pediatric Ministry or a combined Fellowship CPE Residency in Clinical Ethics www.fairbankscenter.org. Student benefits include a stipend (1st Year, $23,660 and 2nd Year, $24,660), full medical/dental/vision, domestic partner coverage, free parking, meal passes, and 28 paid-time-off days, which include holidays and sick days. Students pay a $100 unit fee for each of the three units. There are three interview rounds from which to choose: Round 1: October 8 or October 11 (applications due by September 24). Round 2: December 10 or December 13 (applications due by November 26). Round 3: February 4 or February 7 (application dues January 21). Notification of acceptance into the program will be made within two weeks after each interview round. International Student Applicants need to apply and interview no later than February dates to meet the ACPE International Student Visitor Program deadlines as set by the U.S. Department of State Exchange Visitor Program guidelines. You will receive credit for one unit of CPE in completion of this learning experience.   You will meet with a group of learners for 6-hours each Monday from 11 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Students will provide 16 hours of spiritual care each week at Methodist Hospital, IU Hospital, or Riley Hospital for Children. Also, you will have opportunities to experience 7 on-call shifts during the unit. We offer a variety of pastoral settings including, adult and pediatric Level I trauma centers, critical care, oncology, solid organ transplantation, and a full range of in-patient and out-patient pediatric services. Standard ACPE CPE applications may be sent electronically. We are currently interviewing for the fall units. VITAS Innovative Hospice Care:  A new CPE program has just received “provisional accreditation” to begin in September 1 at VITAS Innovative Hospice Care in Cincinnati and Dayton .  Karen Morrow will supervise the program.  It will be one extended unit over nine months time, meeting one day a month with intervening video/phone conferences for 1 hour each week. Visits will be with hospice patients in homes, facilities and VITAS Hospice in-patient units.  Details are at www.cpevitas.com. Hospice of the Bluegrass is seeking a CPE Coordinator.  Located in Lexington, KY, we are one of the largest and oldest hospice agencies in the country. Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services in Grand Rapids, MI has an opening for a per diem Chaplain.  This per diem Chaplain will offer pastoral care to adults, children, and older adults currently inpatient at the hospital. This ministry could include any of the following duties: one-to-one visits, teaching Wellness and/or Spiritual groups with computer charting on these groups, leading Sunday worship, attending unit team meetings. He or she will fill in as needed during Staff Chaplain vacations or conferences.  The qualifications for this position include successful completion of at least 2 units of CPE (Clinical Pastoral Education). Director of Pastoral Care and Clinical Pastoral Education, Cincinnati, OH - Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion seeks to fill the position of Director of Pastoral Care and Clinical Pastoral Education in the Rabbinical School at its Cincinnati campus, appointment on July 1, 2010 or later (depending on availability).  Candidates must be an ACPE-certified Supervisor, or progressing towards certification as an ACPE-certified Supervisor, and be an ordained rabbi with experience working with liberal Jewish communities and congregations.  Instructional responsibilities (under the supervision of the Director of the Rabbinical School) include:  Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) courses at the HUC campus and overseeing students’ progress in CPE courses taught at other sites; Required courses in Human Relations and Pastoral Care; Participation in Professional Development courses, workshops, seminars; Supervision of 1-2 student sermons each year.  Administrative responsibilities (under the supervision of the Dean) include: Serve as campus chaplain to students in the Rabbinical School, and be available to assist in providing pastoral services to faculty, staff, and graduate students.
