IU Health North Hospital

IU Health North Hospital is a full-service hospital. With dedicated pavilions for surgery, women, children and emergency care, IU Health North brings together physician offices, inpatient beds and operating rooms in a 170-bed hospital with an attached medical office building. IU Health North has a current need for a Manager of Chaplaincy. The role of the Manager of Chaplaincy is to provide spiritual and pastoral care to patients, their support persons, hospital staff and administration, and to associated caregivers such as area physicians and local clergy. Manager may also provide ethical consultation and educational services to students and internal and external communities. This position reports to Chief Nursing Officer and VP Patient Care.

Job Requirements:  Requires Masters of Divinity degree or equivalent knowledge, knowledge of pastoral care, spirituality, and healthcare. Also requires knowledge in the field of theology, moral and bioethical issues in healthcare and social and behavioral sciences along with the ability to lead quality improvement initiatives. Must be certified or in the process of receiving Certification by the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education as a Supervisor. Must complete ACPE Supervisor certification within two years of hire date. Candidate should have knowledge of state and national regulatory agency guidelines and laws relative to assigned are and knowledge of diverse religious traditions and the ability to minister to persons with diverse religious and cultural backgrounds. OhioHealth is pleased to offer a four month extended unit of CPE from January 9, 2017 through April 26, 2017.  In this unit, students will meet as a group for a total of 8 hours each week. (Monday and Wednesday 8a-12 Noon).  Students will also have a weekly one hour session of individual supervision to be scheduled in negotiation with the supervisor. In addition to this class time, students will engage in a pastoral ministry for at least 20 hours each week.  Tuition is $700 for OhioHealth ministry placements, or $800 if ministry hours are completed in other approved ministry settings. Position Overview
The CPE Educator supervises Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) interns and residents who are placed in various locations within our regional health system. S/he plans and implements programs of CPE and facilitates the development of this ACPE center in accordance with ACPE standards, providing leadership with accreditation reviews, etc. S/he fosters relationships with seminaries, community clergy, and others, helping to market the Center’s CPE program to its various communities. S/he also provides interfaith pastoral ministries to patients, patients’ visitors, and staff associates, and serves as a resource in decision-making regarding ethical issues as well as Advance Directives.  The CPE Educator reports to the Regional Director of Pastoral Care
Qualifications

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is a progressive healthcare system in the Big Bend area of North Central Florida.  The CPE program started over 10 years ago and received full accreditation in 2014.  The center would like to begin a Residency program and move toward offering Supervisory Education.  Both of these have been presented to the Administration and they have unqualified support.  This will be a place where the Director will have the support of nursing administration as well as the medical education department.
